As we welcome the start of 2026, it’s the perfect moment to pause and reflect on what has been a truly landmark year for the team at Cotswold Architecture + Design. Throughout 2025, our drawing boards have been home to an incredibly diverse range of projects, each sharing a common goal: blending high-end contemporary design with the unique, historic character of our region.

From the rolling hills of the Cotswolds to the urban landscapes of Newport, here is a look back at the highlights of our 2025.

Redefining Residential Living

This year, we’ve seen several major residential projects move from the planning phase to stunning reality. A standout milestone was the completion of our high-end apartments in Newport. These units represent the pinnacle of modern urban living, proving that sleek, contemporary aesthetics can be achieved without losing a sense of "home."

Further afield, our 11-plot development in Chepstow has shown incredible progress. It’s been a year of watching these structures take shape, particularly the mix of ICF blockwork and timber frames that bridge the gap between traditional forms and 21st-century performance. Seeing the transformation of the site’s historic chapel alongside the new-build homes has been a highlight for our development team.

Contemporary Extensions & Sustainable Innovation

2025 has been a year of "firsts" and technical triumphs. In Cheltenham, we’ve pioneered the use of SIPs (Structurally Insulated Panels) for a striking contemporary extension. By opting for modern zinc cladding and oversized glazing, we’ve managed to create a space that is as thermally efficient as it is visually bold.

In Cirencester, we took a different approach, drawing inspiration from Scandinavian design. This extension focused on creating a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor living, utilizing corner windows and architectural "cowls" to frame the stunning Cotswold views.

We also broke ground on the "Ecobarn," a project that perfectly encapsulates our commitment to sustainable architecture. By repurposing traditional agricultural forms with eco-friendly materials, we are proving that "green" building can be the height of luxury.

Honoring Heritage

Working within the grounds of a Grade II listed property in Bishop’s Cleeve, we successfully designed a bespoke annexe that respects its historic surroundings. Similarly, our self-build project in Symonds Yat has reached its final stages, showcasing how a collaborative design process can result in a home that feels like it has always belonged to its landscape.

More Than Just Houses

It’s not just been about homes this year. We were thrilled to work on a new gym and café project, bringing our design philosophy to a community space. And, for a bit of festive cheer, we even helped facilitate a Porsche-themed Christmas! Whether we’re designing for a car showroom or a quiet country kitchen, our attention to detail remains the same.

Looking Forward to 2026

As we look back on 2025, we are filled with gratitude for the clients who trust us with their visions and the contractors who bring our drawings to life.

The coming year is already looking just as busy, with several new projects in the pipeline and many of our current builds nearing completion. Whether you’re planning a Scandinavian-inspired retreat, a sustainable eco-home, or a sensitive heritage restoration, we can’t wait to help you start your next chapter.

Happy New Year from all of us at Cotswold Architecture + Design.
